Are Believers Under the New Covenant Obligated to Keep the Sabbath?

The Sabbath was one of the Ten Commandments. Below shows the regulations about the importance of keeping the Sabbath.  It was a mandatory day of rest for every living thing in the nation of Israel:

How to Overcome Emotional Bondage

I remember one day asking my father-in-law, a Catholic, that when he partakes of communion where the host (wafer) actually becomes the “human flesh” of Christ (after the Catholic priest does his magic at the altar), what part of Christ is he eating? “Are you eating the little pinky, the belly button, the little toe, his nose?” He got very angry with me because I faced him with reality verses the “Doctrine of transubstantiation” called the “Mystery of the Eucharist” that every good Catholic must believe.

I was reading the paper about a tragic accident that happened on I-95 where a six year old child was killed.  The driver was the father who had a car load of children on their way to a church function.  All came out fine except for the death of the father’s child.  One of the children said to another, “God was with us,” which those around were in agreement and with much thankfulness.  But I can’t help but think, was God not there for the six year old who was killed? And what about the grieving family?

Jesus Did Not Satisfy the Wrath of God

There is a hymn that goes like this:

Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied;
For ev’ry sin on Him was laid—
Here in the death of Christ I live.

This hymn is not biblically sound.  So many times we hear that Jesus drank the cup of God’s wrath – that God’s wrath was poured out on Jesus at the cross.  If we read God’s word more carefully, we will find that Scripture never says Jesus drank the cup of God’s wrath.

Did Jesus Teach Us to Pray to Him or to the Father?

Concerning God the Father and prayer

"You hear prayers; all people approach you." Ps. 65:2

I read a question from someone, and since that time it has made me to really think about it even though I had come up with a rough idea.  The question posed was this:

 In John chapter 14:13-14 Jesus says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." If Jesus is a mere man, how can he hear and answer the prayers of millions of people? The only way this can be done is if Jesus is omniscient and omnipotent!

We have to look at that question more carefully.  It is assumed that Jesus taught his disciples to pray to him.  Jesus always taught his disciples to pray to the Father.  Jesus says,

“But whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you…for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. So pray this way: Our Father in heaven…” (Matt. 6:8-9)

Marriage Death Camps (Except for Fornication)

A young couple in their early 20′s just got married.  Oh what joy! However, about a year later the husband finds out his wife has been sleeping around with her former boyfriend who has come back into her life.  Of course the husband is shocked, dismayed, and beside himself.  He feels such a betrayal from the woman he loves so dearly.  She decides she does not want to be married anymore to her husband and now she wants a divorce because her heart is with her other lover. According to some Christians, the judgment upon the husband is that he is now to spend the rest of his life as a perpetual virgin!
