So what is this “truth” of the Nicene Creed?

It was 325 A.D. at Nicea that the doctrine of the Trinity was rammed through by Athanasius (who in the future would use strong-arm tactics that would make a modern day mobster proud) in a Council that was overseen by the Emperor Constantine who, ironically enough, thought of himself as God-incarnate. (Constantine was a Sun Worshipper and only made an official conversion to “christianity” on his deathbed). Roman coins of the period still portrayed the image of the sun God despite the sudden adoption/conversion of Christianity. Many of those present at the Council Of Nicaea were in fact opposed to the doctrine of the Trinity and had sided with Arius, who was quite adept and effective in proving from the scriptures that the Son was separate and subordinate to God. Much less effective was Athanasius’s theory of homoousion which meant “made of the same stuff.” By this reasoning though, you could have 2 copper coins that were homoousion because they were of the same substance…so couldn’t the Word (Logos) also be a second and separate god? Even after the Nicene Creed, the doctrine of the Trinity was hotly debated for decades and centuries.

Resorting to the Ridiculous

At times the claims of Trinitarian apologists are downright ridiculous.

How many times have you heard a Trinitarian claim the Magi bowed down before baby Jesus because they knew he was God? How many times have you heard them claim that nobody would do such a thing unless he was indeed God? How many times have you wondered if they bowed down before him simply because he was the King of the Jews? And have you ever wondered if they, and even the Jewish people themselves, considered it appropriate to bow down before a King? Do Trinitarians really expect us to believe the Jews did not know anything about a three person God because God had not yet "fully revealed himself" but the pagan Magi were well aware that Jesus was God?

Is The Church Really A New Testament Church?

by Darryl M. Erkel

Many churches claim to base all that they do upon the New Testament, but the sad fact is that most churches claiming to be "evangelical" practice very little of what the Scriptures have patterned for local assemblies. To mention just a few, please consider the following and ask yourself, "Is my church practicing this?"

1. The New Testament teaches that the local church is to be pastored and taught by a plurality of scripturally qualified men known as elders (Acts 20:17, 28; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; 1 Timothy 5:17; Hebrews 13:17; James 5:14; 1 Peter 5:1-4). This being true, why are most of our churches only pastored by one man (i.e., "the pastor")? Why do so many churches today divide their leadership into a hierarchy of "senior pastor," "associate pastor," and "board of elders" – particularly when the New Testament makes no such distinctions among congregational leaders?

Did Jesus Raise Himself From the Dead?

Did Jesus teach that he would raise himself from the dead, and
therefore this proves he is God Almighty?

In John 10:17, 18 Jesus says,
The Father loves me because I lay down my life, to receive it back again. No one has robbed me of it; I am laying it down of my own free will. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to receive it back again; this charge I have received from my Father. John 10:17-18 (NEB)
When Jesus drove out the money changers out of the temple he said in John 2:19,
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up

Are Believers Under the New Covenant Obligated to Keep the Sabbath?

The Sabbath was one of the Ten Commandments. Below shows the regulations about the importance of keeping the Sabbath.  It was a mandatory day of rest for every living thing in the nation of Israel:

The Sabbath was a day to keep holy:
Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy.  For six days you may labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God; on it you shall not do any work, you or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your cattle, or the resident foreigner who is in your gates.  Exodus 20:8-11
